As an experienced Electrical Engineer or EIT with 4+ Years working within an electrical power utility or engineering consultant, you will be responsible for leading and providing technical oversight for multiple projects of various size and nature, provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff, and collaborate with the rest of the team on projects and work to develop new processes and approaches to improve efficiency and quality of everyone’s work.
You will see projects through from conceptual stage through to construction and coordinate with clients, customers, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers to deliver practical and constructible designs.

Job Responsibilities
- Design of overhead distribution lines including field verification of existing conditions, selection of alignments and pole locations, framing and guying arrangements.
- Model pole line using SPIDAcalc / PLS-CADD to determine pole and line loading and check clearances to ground and other structures.
- Design underground distribution lines including selection and routing of ductbanks, coordination with other underground utilities and obstructions.
- Design of distribution substations including equipment, structure, grounding and fencing arrangements.
- Perform necessary calculations to validate designs such as underground cable ampacity, load flow, short circuit current, fuse and breaker setting coordination.
- Provide direction to designers in preparing construction drawings, review, and sign. Typical drawings include cover sheets, key maps, electrical schematics, electrical plan layouts, pole and equipment installation details, and removal drawings.
- Participate in overall project coordination and QAQC activities.
- Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities.
- Perform other related duties.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant design and engineering experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer, in good standing with APEGA or another Canadian province.
- Detail and quality-oriented approach.
- Must work well both individually and in team environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation and drafting practices is an asset.
- Previous experience working with an electrical utility is an asset.
- Previous experience in PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc modelling is an asset.
- Experience conducting electrical power system studies including load flow / power flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, grounding safety analysis, harmonics assessment is an asset.
- Experience selecting and designing protection and control systems is an asset
